Renowned Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami says US cinema dangerous


Iranian renowned film director Abbas Kiarostami, who is visiting Italy, said the US cinema is even more dangerous than its military presence in other countries, IRNA reported from Rome.

Kiarostami who received a doctorate of honor from a university in Venice, Italy, told reporters that the United States tries to display its might through its cinema.

Despite attempts by the European youth to direct cinema toward more human values, he said, unfortunately the US cinema is attracting youth in Europe, Italy included.

Kiarostami's films, books and art works are being put on display in Italy and the exhibition of his works would run through October 12. The prominent Iranian director has held a short course of film making for the interested young Italians on the sidelines of his exhibition.
