An earthquake, measuring 3.7 degrees on the Richter scale, shook areas around Kazeroun city in the southern province of Fars on Friday morning, IRNA reported from Shiraz.
The Fars Seismological Network, affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, reported that the tremor, with its epicenter at 160 km southeast of Shiraz, occurred at 10:46 am local time (0716 GMT).
There has been no report of any casualty or damage. The Friday quake comes on the hills of a similar moderate jolt of 3.6 degrees on Thursday with its epicenter at 38 km southeast of the provincial capital Shiraz.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines and quakes of varying magnitude are of usual occurrence.
