4.7 Quake jolts Khoi in northwestern Iran

An earthquake, measuring 4.7 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale, jolted the city of Khoi in northwest province of West Azarbaijan on Monday, IRNA reported.

According to the seismological network of East Azarbaijan province, affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor, the epicenter of which was close to the city, occurred at 9:56 hours local time (6:26 GMT).

There have been no reports of damage to property or probable loss of life.

Quake jolts northeastern province of Semnan

Another earthquake measuring 3.5 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale jolted some parts of the northeastern province of Semnan on Monday.

According to the seismological network of Semnan province, affiliated to Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor shook the city at 03:51 a.m. local time (00:21 GMT). No damage has been reported.
