Iran on Saturday rejected recent remarks made by US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld that it allowed terrorists to enter the Iraqi territory via its borders, IRNA reported from Tehran.
Terming Rumsfeld`s statements as "baseless", Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi stressed that expansion of terrorism stems from the US performance and policies.
Now, this is totally clear that Washington is trying to make excuses and to put the blame on others, he added. The US has endangered the international relations and security by its wrong policies, Asefi said.
By ignoring the international security, Washington has challenged the world security, he reiterated.
En route to Baghdad on Thursday, Rumsfeld said, "While the United States is working with Saudis, Kuwaitis and Jordanians to guard their borders, we are unhappy about the fact that people come across the Syrian and Iranian borders, they know we are unhappy about it."
