Hundreds of Germans and Iranian expatriates flocked to hospitals and clinics nationwide over the past days to donate blood for a little Iranian girl, suffering from leukemia for the last four months, IRNA reported from Berlin.
Three year-old Dari whose father is Iranian, is hospitalized in the north German city of Hannover, as doctors are battling time to find a suitable bone marrow donor, sources close to the family told IRNA Tuesday.
Doctors have said there is a 1:100,000 chance to find the right bone marrow donor.
Dari's weight loss as a result of the chemotherapy treatments have been an additional concern for the medical staff who might have to feed the girl artificially.
The little girl's plight has received front page coverage in Germany's highest circulated daily, Bild which is bringing daily updates on Dari's condition.
