Iran at last defeated Taiwan in its opening basketball match in the 22nd Asian Nations Cup in Harbin, China on Tuesday, IRNA reported.

During a nail-biting clash, Iran that had lost all matches against the Taiwanese managed to win 84-73.

Iran fielded regulars Iman Zandi, Samad Nik-Khah, Mehdi Kamrani, Jaber Rouzbehani, and Pour-Tajik and substitutes like Behzad Afradi against Taiwan.

On Wednesday, Iran meets the Syrian side and books a berth in the next round if it wins.
