Visiting Afghan First Deputy Minister for
Agriculture and Monetary Mohammad Sharif said in Arak on Tuesday that the
Islamic Republic of Iran is playing very significant role in
reconstruction of the war-shattered country, IRNA reported.
Taking part in a joint meeting with Arak chamber of commerce,
mines and metals, he said during the past 27 years, civil war and
rampant drought in the country, completely destroyed infrastructure of
Afghanistan.
Afghan constitution has envisaged foreign investment and commerce,
he said adding that the time is now ripe for Iranian businessmen who
enjoy common culture, religion and language.
Afghan people welcome Iranian made products, he said adding that
the Afghan officials are willing to benefit from Iran`s science,
technological know-how and experience in various fields.
Head of Iran-Afghanistan Trade Center Mohammad al-Hadi Farhang,
who also attended the meeting, said Arak as an industrial hub in the
Islamic Republic of Iran can play crucial role in removing the
shortcomings in our country, he said.
To meet the demand of Afghan people, it is necessary to set up a
permanent trade fair in Afghanistan to demonstrate the province
potentials at various economic sectors.
To speed up mutual economic cooperation, a trade office should be
established in Kabul, he said adding that the Afghan officials are
ready to welcome the idea.
A nine clause memorandum of understanding (MoU) were signed in
the meeting on setting up permanent trade fair and a trade office in
Afghanistan.
