Iran has snatched one gold and two silver
medals at the World Taekwondo Championships (WTC) in
Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, IRNA reported.
National taekwondo player of Iran, Hadi Saei, won a silver medal
in the fifth weight of the world event Wednesday.
Representing the country in 72 kg, Saei overcame his rivals from
Brazil, England, Sweden, Mexico, and Republic of Azerbaijan but he
lost to his South Korean rival in final.
Austria and Azerbaijan tied at No. 3, bagging bronze.
Behzad Khodadad added a silver to Iran`s asset as he narrowly lost
to his Taiwanese rival 14-13 in the second-weight final.
The Iranian player was ahead 4-2 but due to misjudgment he was
announced the loser.
The bronze jointly went to the U.S. and South Korea.
Iran`s gold was grabbed by Youssef Karami, who defeated the French
finalist Michel 13-8.
Turkey and Republic of Azerbaijan finished third, winning the
bronze medal.
