Semnan, April 12, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 3.4 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale jolted the city of Shahmirzad, in the northeastern province of Semnan, on Monday.
The seismological base of Tehran University's Geophysics Institute said the tremor occurred at 11:05 hours local time (06.35 GMT). There were no reports of any casualties or damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic faultlines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
