Ankara, April 24, IRNA -- An Iranian teenager won the first prize
in the International Children and Young Adults Caricature Contest
held here Friday.
A caricature drawn by Mohammad Javad Mohammadi was adjudged best
from among some 4,000 works sent in by children and young adults from
25 countries all over the world.
Mohammadi's prize consisted of a plaque of honor and dlrs 1,000
in cash.
The young Iranian caricaturist's artistic creation, which was
warmly welcomed by Turkish caricaturists, portrayed a child in the
war-hit city of Bam clutching a doll and in a pensive mood.
A killer quake with a magnitude of 6.3 degrees on the Richter
scale, the world's most deadly in at least 10 years, leveled the city
of Bam and its surrounding villages on December 26, 2003 at 05:28
local time (01.58 GMT). Over 30,000 people were killed and thousands
more injured by the quake.
