An unnamed Iran Air official said here that the plane left Heathrow at 16:00 hrs local time (20:30 of Tehran's) with 260 passengers on board.
He noted that it was under close inspection in the past 22 hours and its damaged generator was replaced with a new one.
The plane with 350 passengers on board was ready to fly from London to Tehran on Tuesday when it was struck by a strong lightning minutes before take-off causing serious damage to its generator.
It was learned that several other planes at Heathrow were also damaged by the lightning which was of an unprecedented magnitude and led to the cancellation of some 15 other flights from Heathrow on the same day.
