A group of Iranologists are writing a new encyclopedia, both in Persian and English, and intend to publish it simultaneously in Iran and Britain, Iranian Cultural Heritage News Agency reported on Tuesday.
The team is led by Dr. Seyyed Hassan Amin, a law lecturer in the UK universities and publisher of several literary journals including Hafez and Iran-mehr. "Current encyclopedias lack several key entries such as freedom, while featuring less important entries that are irrelevant to modern Iranians," he said. "We intend to publish the tome based on contemporary socio-political needs in Iranian communities."
They have started their work in 2002 and, according to Dr. Amin's estimate, it might finish by 2010. The encyclopedia is originally written in English and simultaneously translated into Persian.
