Supreme Leader re-appoints Shahroudi as Iran's Judiciary Chief

Tehran, Aug 13, IRNA -- The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a verdict on Friday re-appointed the Judiciary Chief Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi for a second five-year term in office.

Ayatollah Khamenei said he appreciated Shahroudi's efforts in his first term as the Judiciary chief, and called on him to try harder to help materialize a judicial apparatus ideal to the Islamic establishment.

The Supreme Leader said Iran still needs planned and comprehensive struggles to achieve that goal, and expressed hope that Shahroudi will be able to promote justice, lawfulness, wisdom, reforms, promptness, righteousness and honesty in the performance of the Judiciary.

Ayatollah Khamenei further advised Shahroudi to try to strengthen Iran's judicial structure, draw up plans to boost its efficiency, train expert workforce, fight corruption and cooperate with other branches of the government, stressing that these should be the priorities of the Judiciary.

The Supreme Leader in conclusion stressed that Shahroudi's talents, as a knowledgeable, experienced and intelligent figure of the Islamic Revolution, guaranteed the implementation of the above priorities.
