Experts Spot 16 Common Ancient Ailments in Iran

Cancer, Tuberculosis, back pains, spinal cord twists, mouth and teeth infection, among others, have been the most common illnesses in ancient Iran, experts concluded, Iranian Cultural Heritage News Agency reported.

After studying skeletons unearthed in the Burnt City in Sistan-Baluchistan province, Kabood Mosque in Tabriz, Talesh in Gilan province and Kharand in Semnan province, archeologists and anthropologists could shortlist 16 rampant and rife ailments in these historical sites.

"Among 600 skeletons dating from the 4th to 1st millennium BC, 120 with symptoms of illness were diagnosed. Following thorough analysis, we could recognize cancer and TB in 37 remains, back and spinal cord pains in 30, mouth and teeth infection in 20," said Forazanfar, head of anthropological studies in Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization (CHO).

He insisted the prognosis of these illnesses would help experts to learn more about the lifestyle and culture of ancient inhabitants of the Earth. sand would be scooped out of the deck.
