Kharrazi told his Jordanian counterpart Marwan al-Muasher over the phone that it is time Iraq's neighbors contributed towards resolving the crisis in that country.
He said not only Iraq's neighbors but also all countries of the region should try to end the crisis in Iraq, and said it is necessary that all Muslim countries debate ways to resolve Iraq's crisis.
Kharrazi described as critical the current situation in Iraq, and said Iraq's neighbors should adopt preventive measures to end violence in Iraq and protect its holy sites from harm.
He warned that any effort by US troops to attack the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf could result in a catastrophe indicating that many people have taken shelter to the shrine from US attacks.
Muasher, for his part, deplored the situation in Iraq and highlighted the need for Iraq's neighbors to cooperate in resolving the crisis in the country.
He expressed hope that tranquility would return to Iraq as the result of the prudent measures and the cooperation of Iraq's neighbors.
