Iranian track cyclist knocked out of Olympics

Athens, Aug 21, IRNA -- Hossein Asgari from Iran was knocked out of the 4-km track cycling contests of the 28th Olympic Games here Friday.

The Asian champion, Asgari, was narrowly beaten by his Kazakh opponent, Youri Yoda, in the preliminary round and made an embarrassing exit.

Asgari clocked 4min 30sec while the Kazakh cyclist pedaled the distance in 4min 29sec.

Sixteen cyclists compete in the preliminary round. Four will qualify for semifinals.
