Iran's Medical Tourism Potential Unique in Middle East: Health Minister

No Middle East country can compete with Iran in terms of medical expertise and costs, announced Iranian Health Minister Masoud Pezeshkian, Iranian Cultural Heritage News Agency reported.

"Iranian medical facilities are unique in the region, providing a massive potential for medical and health tourism," he said on the sidelines of signing a memorandum of understanding with Hussein Marashi, president of Iranian Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (CHTO) on expanding ties between the two bodies on attracting tourists.

To cite an example, Pezeshkian said that an open heart surgery would cost on average $18,000 in Turkey and $40,000 in UK, while any heart patient can have the surgery for less than $10,000 in Iran and can afford the rest on touring the country.
