Tehran, Aug 25, IRNA -- Automobiles are officially being imported to Iran
following announcement of a list of tariffs on imports, said Chief of
Iran's Customs Administration Masood Karbasian in Tehran on Wednesday.
Karbasian told IRNA that a ceremony, held here on Monday for
customs discharge of two imported cars with a 130 percent tariffs,
marked official import of autos.
He expected that auto imports would earn his office rls 6.475
trillion ($1 = 8000 rls)
The official said his office has been able to meet rls 7.198
trillion out of the rls 9.646 trillion target set for the first four
months of the current Iranian year (started on March 21).
He said 9,269,000 tons of goods were imported at a cost of
dlrs 10.31 billion in the first four months.
He added that Iran's export earnings, excluding oil and gas,
topped dlrs 1.864 billion.
