A Lovely Day In Lavasan
By Syma Sayyah, Tehran

Several weeks ago, we had an unusual board meeting for one of the NGOs (Non Governmental Organization) that I work for. At this NGO we believe that it is important to spend some quality relaxed time together once in a while in order to find happy and mutual experiences to enhance the sense of togetherness and to bond. This will help members to work and find new reasons to become better friends inside and outside work and develop better understanding away from the normal formality of workplace.

On that week, we went to Mitra's place. She is one of our board members as well as one of the most active volunteers, who has this most wonderful villa house on the far east side of Tehran at the end of Lavasan. Everything was lovely, the whole day was gorgeous, the water in the pool cooled our rushed and tense bodies and smoothed our minds and souls!

The inside of the house was great too, and it was beautifully designed. I fell in love with this oval shaped nourgirr-sunroof- there. Mitra has a couple working for her in the house. The man takes care of the garden and the pool and his wife helps out with the children and the cooking.

It was such fun. After our swims, we had a great roast beef for lunch, and after that we sat in the shade to chat, discuss our NGO and play with the children and the cat, while the lovely mountains in the distance displayed their graces majestically.

I would love to move out there, but then a house like this with the garden, even if I could afford the running cost, comes to at least a million dollars!

jaye shoma khali (we missed you)!
