Tehran, Aug 28, IRNA -- Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA)
correspondent Mostafa Darban, recently released from Iraqi detention,
was given a heroic welcome by his colleagues in IRNA in Tehran on Saturday.
Darban, accompanied by IRNA Managing Director Abdollah Naseri and
other high-ranking officials of the agency, entered the IRNA news
room this morning and was warmly greeted by IRNA staff.
He was arrested by Iraqi police in Baghdad along with his local
staff on August 9 and held in the Iraqi Interior Ministry. He was
released on Friday after 19 days in detention.
Upon entering the IRNA news room, a flower wreath was handed to
him by Ms. Khadeji Ruzbehani, wife of IRNA reporter Mahmoud Saremi,
who was killed in Mazar-i-Sharif, northern Afghanistan.
Saremi was martyred along with a number of Iranian diplomats when
the Iranian embassy building in Mazar-i-sharif was attacked by
Taliban forces six years ago. His wife is also an IRNA employee.
Darban thanked IRNA staff and officials for their support and
unceasing efforts to secure his relaese.
The IRNA reporter was earlier in the day received by Minister
of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ahmad Masjed Jamei.
