Speaking at the opening ceremony of a conference titled 'Investment Prospects in the Middle East Oil and Gas', he said that Iran is seeking to increase the efficiency of its major oil and gas companies, adding that suitable grounds should be provided for investment in the oil industry.
Providing technologies, investment and financial resources to increase production of oil and gas in the Middle East is necessary not only for the developing countries but also for ensuring the continued economic growth of the developed states, he said.
Long-term cooperation between oil producing and oil consuming countries in line with sustainable development and market stability are the major factors behind security of energy supply in the world, he added.
Zanganeh underlined continuous cooperation between national and international oil companies, saying that there should be a long-term and sustainable relationship among the Middle Eastern energy producers and such energy-thirsty countries as India and China whose energy demands are on the rise.
Based on the projections of the International Energy Agency (IEA), in order to supply global oil needs in the next 30 years the amount of investments to be made by the Middle Eastern oil producing countries in the period would be twice as much as that they made in the 1990s, Zanganeh noted.
He also underlined the role the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) plays as the major oil producer in the world in keep the international markets stable.
Based on the current plans and given the skill of Iranian oil experts, Iran will be the world's number one producer of petrochemical products by 2025, the second crude oil producer within OPEC and the world's third gas producing country, said Zanganeh.
He stressed that Iran is ready to cooperate with the Middle Eastern countries, the European Union and the Asian countries in ttract investment and getting access to technology needed for development of its energy resources.
"We declare that we are ready to hold negotiations to reach a consensus at political level. We welcome the presence of the international oil majors in Iran in the field of oil exploration and exploitation," he said.
