British, Iranian Archeologists Excavate Bushehr Sites

A team of Iranian and British archeologists will conduct research for one month in the southern province of Bushehr province, local officials announced, Iranian Cultural Heritage News Agency reported.

The team is made up of archeologists from the Archeology Research Center (affiliated with Iran's Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization) and British Durham University, Ardeshir Mohammadi Baghmalai said.

"These archeologists have been conducting studies along the northern coasts of the Persian Gulf in Bushehr since November 21 to evaluate their potentials," he added.

Many domestic and international archeological teams plan to visit Bushehr province to learn about its history," he added.

Earlier archeological excavations indicate that the Elamites, Achaemenids, Parthians, Sassanids and Muslim rulers of the region were engaged in trading along the Persian Gulf coast.
