Iranian and French musicians to perform joint concert in Tehran

Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA -- Iranian and French musicians are going to perform jointly in a modern concert in Tehran on December 22-23.

Tehran Music Troupe, announcing the news here on Friday, said: "The concert's two performances, the first of their kind, would be conducted by master Ali-Reza Mashayekhi."

Pieces that will be played, both composed by Ali-Reza Mashayekhi, include 'Celebration', involving the piano and other percussion instruments, and a number of ultra-X cultural pieces played by the violin-cellist of the Philharmonic Orchestra.

The cultural-artistic event is sponsored by the Contemporary Music Research Center of the University of Tehran with the French music troupe Grizanti & Vitantanio and the Modern Music Orchestra as co-sponsors.

The violin-cellist of the orchestra, Mary Teresa Grizanti, and pianist, Mark Vitantanio, will be performing pieces by Claudio Debussy, Ali-Reza Mashayekhi, Olivia Missan, Arash Abbasi and Parisa Vaez Qamsari.

Mary Teresa Grizanti is a graduate of Moscow's Tchaikovsky Music School and the Paris Music Conservatory and has played the violin or cello in numerous international performances as a part of the French Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in the German cities of Berlin and Cologne and in the French capital, Paris, in recent years.

Grizanti, a professor at Paris' National Conservatory of Music, has recently been commissioned by the Iranian cultural attache in Paris to perform the Iran-France 20th-21st recital along with renowned French pianist Vitantanio.

Vitantanio, who is also a recipient of several international music awards including the top prize as best French pianist in a classical music concert and best foreign pianist at Italy's Signalia Music Festival, in addition to playing alongside members of the Modern Music Orchestra and a few pieces with Grizanti, will play a few solo pieces by Iranian and French composers in the upcoming concert here.

Vitantanio and Grizanti have been playing various pieces in duet in various European capitals and cities as well as in the United States since 2001 to promote contemporary European music.

Tickets for the concert are available at Tehran University's Faculty of Arts and Tehran's Beethoven Music Shop.
