It was announced here Saturday that the mortar shell left from Iran-Iraq war era was kept by a citizen at his house in Eslamieh as iron waste.
As he was trying to sell it, the mortar shell dropped from his hand and exploded immediately.
The blast resulted in the immediate death of his 46-years-old wife, Talan Gholami, and the nine-year-old Rouhollah Morad Khani, while four others were seriously wounded.
After the eight-year imposed war, blasts resulting from the remains of mines and explosives across Ilam Province have claimed many lives, whose number amounted to 40 in the current year.
