Tehran, Dec 28, IRNA -- Iranian courts have issued rulings based on
which the US would pay 2.7 billion dollars in reparation to Iranian
citizens, said Judiciary spokesman Jamal Karimirad in Tehran on Tuesday.
Karimirad said at his weekly press briefing that based on a Majlis
approval, Iran's Justice Ministry would be qualified to deal with the
complaints, raised by Iranian citizens against foreign governments.
He said nine cases of complaint, raised against the US government
over recent years, have thus far been investigated and due rulings
have been issued.
The source said the complaints have been filed by a group of
Iranians, including the bereaved families of the July 1988 plane crash
victims, who have directly or indirectly sustained damage inflicted by
the US.
He said the verdicts have been reported to the US interest section
in Iran to take effect.
An Iranian passenger plane bound for the United Arab Emirates was
shot down by the American Navy frigate 'USS Vincennes' in April 1988.
All the 290 passengers and crew aboard, including 65 children, were
killed.
