An earthquake measuring 3.4 degrees on the
open-ended Richter scale hit the border areas of western provinces of
Kurdestan and Kermanshah near the city of Paveh early on Tuesday, IRNA
reported from Tehran.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute, affiliated to
Tehran University, said the tremor occurred at 00:30 hour local time
(2100 GMT on Monday).
There was no report of any damage to property caused by the quake.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault
lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
