Kuala Lumpur, Feb 1, IRNA -- Iran`s under-23 football side overcame Singapore 3-2 in a friendly at home Saturday.
Mehrzad Ma`danchi took the lead for the visitor Iran in the 30th minute and Hossein Ka`bi made it 2-0 five minutes later.
Iran was pegged back as the home team minimized the gap six minutes after the restart and grabbed the equalizer on 55 minutes. Five minutes from the normal time, Ka`bi scored his double and Iran`s winner and was announced Player of the Match. Iran is prepping for the qualifying matches of 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
Drawn with South Korea, China, and Malaysia, the Iranian side will automatically qualify for the Olympic Games if it stands at the top of Group A.
Iran will play its first match against Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on March 3.
The Iranian team has been scheduled to play Japan in a friendly on Feb 8.
