The Anglo-Dutch conglomerate Royal Dutch/Shell, British BP, the US ChevronTexaco, Mexican Pemex, French TotalFinaElf, and Chinese Petrochina took the fifth to 10th places in the list.
The magazine named French TotalFinaElf -- European Exxonmobil -- as the world`s eighth major oil company.
The US firm ChevronTexaco and French Total had their ranking promoted to seventh and eighth respectively from eighth and ninth in 2001.
