Iran's -80 kg martial art player, Youssef Karami, shone in an international event in South Korea, World Taekwondo Stars, winning the glittering gold Saturday, IRNA reported.
Karami beat Sky Park, the world's bronze medalist in 2002, in the final and bagged the coveted gold of the prestigious Seoul-based tournament.
The Iranian prodigy had already overcome the Croatian-born Canadian player, Miroslav, and the 2000 Sydney Olympic runner-up, Faisal bin Taleb. He collected a 25,600-dollar purse.
The title brought the number of Karami's gold medals at international events to six in the current Iranian calendar year, which ends on March 19, 2004.
