Iran will not take part at the 40th Munich Security Conference which opened in Munich on Saturday, a conference spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity, told IRNA.
The spokesperson gave no reason for the Iranian delegation's sudden and unexpected cancellation.
An Iranian delegation, comprised of the General-Director for Political and International Affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry Amir Zamaninia and Iran's Ambassador to Germany Seyed Shamseddin Khareqani, were initially to participate in the two-day meeting.
The conference, focusing on the state of transatlantic ties and the future of Middle East, features more than 250 political leaders and security experts from over 40 countries.
