Director of Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts (TMCA) Ali Reza Sami Azar said in Tehran on Sunday that Majlis has ratified the major projects aiming to reinforce the art sector, IRNA repored.
He told IRNA that one percent of the development expenses of the ministries and government organizations have been allocated to purchasing artworks as the first serious measure by the legislation to widely support art.
Sami Azar said that this is a significant step taken to help the independence of art centers and optimize the appearance of the state and public buildings. He hoped that the budget of the coming Iranian year (starting March 20) would provide for purchase of artworks.
"The positive economic impact of the specified bill is overshadowed by the significant psychological impression it has left on the minds of Iranian artists," he added.
Turning to the project on establishment of 'contemporary art foundation' as a significant factor for promotion of active and dynamic management in the field, he hoped that given the initial approval of the sixth term MPs, grounds for final ratification of the project, which will also cover TMCI, will be provided.
"Once such a foundation becomes operational, nationwide art activities will be administered more dynamically," he added.
TMCI director also referred to the establishment of Roudaki foundation as one of the positive moves of the sixth parliament as an effective step to raise the level of activities in various art fields including theater and music.
The official noted that the inspection of various art centers, particularly the TMCI, by the members of Majlis Cultural Commission marks their special attention to art.
