Iran stands second at first Asian Indoor Track-and-Field Championships

Iran finished runner-up in the first Asian Indoor Track-and-Field Championships, which ended in Tehran on Sunday night, IRNA reported.

With an asset of six golds, 12 silvers, and 7 bronzes, the home team stood second while China celebrated the title as it garnered 10 gold, three silver, and three bronze medals and Bahrain ranked third, collecting three golds, three silvers, and three bronzes.

Winning three golds, two silvers, and one bronze, the Kazakh side finished fourth.

The fifth title went to Japan, which took three gold, one silver, and three bronze medals and India stood sixth with one gold, three silvers, and five bronzes.

Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Syria lay in the seventh-twelfth spots.

Tehran hosted 29 teams in the first Asian indoor athletics event.

Female Iranian runner snatches Asian silver

Iran's representative in 3000m race of the first Asian Indoor Track-and-Field Championships in this capital city stood second Sunday.

Leila Ebrahimi bagged the silver medal as she broke her own record by 25 seconds, clocking 10:23.05 minutes in the newly-inaugurated Aftab-e Enqelab Hall.

A Kazakh runner stole the show, passing the finish line after 10:10.05 minutes.

With a time of 11:08.20 minutes, Elham Zanbouri took the bronze medal.

Iran grabs Asian women's 4x400m relay gold, silver

Female 4x400m relay runners of Iran stood top and second on Sunday.

The sportswomen competed in Aftab-e Enqelab Hall, which was recently inaugurated.

Mahsa Mo'tamedi, Shadi Tabatabaei, and Sousseh Avanessian, three Iranian runners, were kept out of the race due to their faults.

Iran celebrates Asian 4x400 relay title

Iran was crowned at the 4x400m relay race of on Sunday night.

Running in the newly-inaugurated Aftab-e Enqelab Hall, the Iranian side clocked 3:16.99 minutes, grabbing the glittering gold medal.

India took the silver with a time of 3:19.91 minutes and the bronze was won by Bahrain as it registered 3:22.21 minutes.

Iran's Kheirgou wins Asian 5 km walk gold

Amir Kheirgou of Iran bagged the 5 km walk gold medal on Sunday.

On the last day of Asian event in Aftab-e Enqelab Hall, the Iranian athlete clocked 22:12.34 minutes while his fellow countryman, Ebrahim Rahmani, won the silver with a 22:19.14 minutes and Sitah Ram of India took the bronze with a time of 22:23.32 minutes.
