An earthquake with the intensity
of 3.9 degrees on the Richter scale hit the city of Kazeroun, in
the southern province of Fars, at 11:16 hours local time (07:46 GMT)
Wednesday, IRNA reported from Shiraz.
The provincial seismological base, affiliated to the Geophysics
Institute of Tehran University, registered the epicenter of the quake
somewhere in northwestern Kazeroun.
No report has yet been received on any possible damage to
property caused by the quake.
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic
fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
