Iran on Thursday won the crown of Greco-Roman wrestling competitions at the 24th Takhti Cup by grabbing three gold medals with Russia finishing runner-up by winning four golds, IRNA reported from Tehran.
Iran, that had pitted 78 wrestlers in the bouts, also received seven silver and four bronze medals with a total point of 66, while Russia, bringing only six wrestlers in the competitions, gained 53 points from the golds and a bronze medal.
Armenia finished third with a bronze medal and 19 points. Syria, Iraq and Azerbaijan filled the fourth, fifth and sixth rankings each winning 16, 10 and seven points, respectively.
