An earthquake measuring 3.2
degrees on the Richter scale jolted the city of Firouzabad in the
southern province of Fars on Sunday, IRNA reported from Shiraz.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute, affiliated to
Tehran University, said the tremor, epicentered in an area 60 km
southwest of Firouzabad, occurred at 10:13 hours local time (0643
GMT).
There was no report of any damage to property caused by the quake.
Another earthquake measuring 3.3 degrees on
the Richter scale jolted the city of Garmsar in Semnan province, east of the
capital city of Tehran, Sunday morning.
The seismological base of the Geophysics Institute of the
Tehran University said the tremor occurred at 8:12 hours local
time (0442 GMT).
Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic
fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are of usual occurrence.
