An earthquake measuring 4 degrees on the
Richter scale jolted the city of Shoush in the southern province of
Khuzestan Wednesday morning, IRNA reported from Tehran.
The seismological base of Tehran University`s Geophysics Institute
said the tremor occurred at 10:20 hours local time (0650 GMT).
There were no reports of any immediate damage to property.
Another earthquake measuring
4.6 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale jolted the city of
Neishabour in the northeastern province of Khorassan on Wednesday.
According to the Khorassan Seismological Network affiliated to
Tehran University`s Geophysics Institute, the epicenter of the quake
which occurred at 7:46 hours local time (0316 GMT) was recorded 50
kms northwest of the capital city Mashhad.
There were no immediate reports of probable damage or casulties.
Iran is situated on some of the world`s most active seismic
faultlines and is often hit by quakes of varying magnitudes.
