The German government on Friday welcomed Washington's decision to ease sanctions against Iran, calling it "positive," IRNA reported from Berlin.
"Generally it's a positive sign that many countries, the US too, have indicated their readiness to help to overcome the natural catastrophe and the (American) decision to suspend a part of the existing sanctions is positive," German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Antje Leenderste said during a news conference.
"Both sides, the US and Iran, have stressed the human character of the aid," she added.
US President George W. Bush ordered Wednesday an easing of anctions against Iran to facilitate humanitarian relief.
