Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said in Tehran on Monday that the Islamic Republic of Iran enjoys enough potential to turn into a car manufacturing center in the world, IRNA reported.
Speaking at the opening ceremony for "center for qualitative control of automobiles in the Middle East and promotional plans of Iran Khodro", he said "We are proud of hearing that our auto industry ranked 17th in the world and the first in the region."
Lauding the efforts of all managers, experts and workers in the country's auto industry, he said the industry is considered as the driving force for other branches of the industry sector.
Through commissioning the qualitative control of auto manufacturing plants in the country, "we can claim that our industry enjoy international standards."
To successfully find a footstep on the world market "we should inmprove the quality and reduce the cost price of our products," he pointed out.
Productivity, quality and marketing are three important factors in auto industry, he said adding that the country's car makers should pay due attention to environment and its standards.
Transfer of auto production line from one country to another is of high importance, he said.
Later on the day, Rafsanjani inspected various sections of Iran Khodro plant.
