Iran: Special program on Bam's quake on Berkeley's KPFA on Wednesday January 7

Tune in to KPFA 94.1 FM from 7 to 8 PM on Wednesday, January 7 for a program on the tragic earthquake in the historic city of BAM. There will be interviews with:

1. Mohsen Aboutorabi, a Professor of Architecture, will talk about the past and future of the BAM Citadel and why there was so much damage inflicted upon the city and its inhabitants.

2. Ali Ashraf Darvishian, a renowned Iranian novelist. He is on the Board of Directors of the Iranian Writers' Association. (Kanoone-Nevisandegane-Iran) He will talk about the response of the government agencies to this catastrophe, the reaction by the general public and the role played the non-governmental groups including Iranian Writers' Association in assisting the survivors of the earthquake.

3. Dr. Fariborz Raisdana, a prominent economist and political activist. He visited BAM the day after the earthquake. He has established an independent organization to protect the Children of Bam. He will recap his observations while he comments on the role played by both governmental and non-governmental institutions in the wake of the earthquake.
