Iranian chess player Shojaat Qane Wednesday lifted the title of an international grand master tournament in Bulgaria, IRNA reported from Tehran.
Qane fought to a stalemate against a Serbia and Montenegro international master in the ninth round, celebrating the title on seven points.
Stanovski, an international master from Macedonia, finished runner-up on seven points and the third title went to Serbia's Maxomovic, who won 5.5 points.
The Iranian phenom's superb performance has stunned the Bulgarian sports media, prompting the TV to arrange a live interview with Qane Friday night.
Qane is to play 24 in a simultaneous clash. The Iranian was decorated with the international master title as he collected 5.5 points in the seventh round.
