The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) will tender exploration and development of 16 oil blocks at a forum in the Netherlands, making them the first offers up for grabs outside Iran, IRNA reported from Tehran.
The tenders will be held in The Hague, where representatives of 50 oil entities from around the world are expected to attend the forum, slated for January 28 and 29.
NIOC also announced its bid to make tenders more attractive, where exploration, appraisal and development of oil blocks are offered all in a package over a span of 25 years.
Iran used before to tender such operations separately in short-term contracts, which left many foreign developers less interested.
NIOC announced the names of the blocks including Moghan (two blocks), Kuhdasht, Khorramabad, Kermanshah, Bijar, East and West Mokran in the Sea of Oman, Zabol, East Jazmourian, Saravan, Tabas, Garmsar, Saveh, Raz and Marveh Tappeh.
They are among 51 blocks which the country has discovered recently and is intending to gradually put into international tenders.
NIOC said several Iranian oil officials, including Deputy Oil Minister and Director General of NIOC, Mehdi Mir-Moezzi, and the company's exploration manager, Mahmoud Mohaddes, will attend the forum.
