NPC to start project to pipe ethylene gas to western Iran

Khorramabad, Lorestan prov, July 7, IRNA -- The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) announced on Wednesday that it would soon start a project to pipe ethylene gas from southern Iran to the western provinces.

NPC Managing Director Mohammad-Reza Ne'matzadeh told reporters that the project would take ethylene gas from the energy hub of Asalouyeh to Lorestan, and thence to Kermanshah, Kurdestan and West Azarbaijan at an estimated cost of above 301 million dollars.

He said ethylene gas will be separated from natural gas at wells in Asalouyeh before being pumped northward through Khuzestan to Lorestan.

Ne'matzadeh further added that the NPC plans to construct five petrochemical plants on the route of the pipeline which is expected to run 1,500 kilometers.
