Quake hits Iran's northern city of Gorgan

Minoudasht, Gorgan prov, July 12, IRNA -- An earthquake measuring 4.2 degrees on the Richter scale hit the provincial capital city of Gorgan in this northern province Monday.

According to the seismological base of Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremor occurred at 09:13 hours local time (0443 GMT).

There were no immediate reports of any casualty or damage to property.

Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are usual occurrences.
