Speaking at a first session of BOAO Energy Forum Managing Director of Iran National Gas Company (INGC) Rokneddin Javadi said that Iran`s share in the world`s gas export market is meager.
"Iran has plans to increase its share to over 10 percent of the international exports by 2020," he added.
To achieve this aim INGC has four Liquid National Gas (LNG) projects deigned as well as reviewing several other project for exports of gas to Persian Gulf Littoral states, Caucuses, Europe, Pakistan and India, Javadi underlined.
"Iran has 27,000 billion cubic meters of gas reserves and approximately 18 percent the total of proven gas reserves in the world."
He said the country produces 313 million cubic meters of gas daily which is slated to increase to 580 million cubic meters by the end of the fourth five-year development plan (March 2005-2010).
Managing Director of Petropars Company Gholam-Reza Manouchehri said here Last week the capacity of the first unit of South Pars phase 1 refinery will reach 500 million cubic meters in the near future.
The Persian-language daily `Etemad` quoted Manouchehri as saying that so far, 350 million cubic feet of gas, which is produced at phase 1, are injected into cross-country gas trunkline and 16,000 barrels of gas liquids have been produced in this phase," he said.
He noted the second unit of phase 1 is currently ready to become operational at 40 percent of its nominal capacity and will hike to full capacity in a month.
Manouchehri expressed hope the first phase of South Pars development project will be officially inaugurated in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 20, 2004).
Petropars Company is currently implementing development project of first phase of South Pars gas field with the aim of producing 25 million cubic meters of gas, 40,000 barrels of gas liquids and 200 tons of sulfur.
Implementation of phase 1 of South Pars cost some 1.181 billion rials and 200,000 dollars which is being carried out by more than 100 domestic and foreign contractors.
