Following the successful launch of 7,000 Years of Iranian Arts exhibition in some European countries, a complementary exhibit covering 14 centuries of Iran's Islamic civilization is slated to be held in Vienna in 2006, Iranian Cultural Heritage News Agency reported on Monday.
"We agreed to hold the exhibition during a recent visit by Austrian officials and experts, and right now our experts are choosing the appropriate articles to be packed and sent to Vienna," said Mohammad Reza Kargar, director of Iran's National Museum.
He added all the artifacts would be chosen from Iranian museums and the exhibit would tour Europe if other nations display their willingness.
The collection prepared for the exhibit of 7,000 Years of Iranian Arts included some 180 invaluable items from the National Museum's artifacts. The exhibition was launched in November 2000 in Austria's Museum of Art History, where unexpectedly huge turnout compelled the organizers to extend its duration for 20 days.
