Supreme Leader: Iran not interfering in Iraq's internal affairs

Tehran, June 3, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei here Thursday refuted allegations made by enemies saying, "Tehran does not interfere in Iraq's internal affairs".

Addressing a special ceremony commemorating the 15th anniversary of the departure of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, the late Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader reiterated that Iraq belongs to the Iraqi nation and they should determine their own fate.

"There are many political and religious elites in Iraq. What we believe is that occupiers must not stay in Iraq even for one more day," the Supreme Leader stressed.

"Even one drop of the Iraqi oil does not belong to the occupation forces and they cannot appoint any ruler there. They have nothing to do in that country," the Supreme Leader noted.

"We believe that the US is facing ever increasing problems in Iraq. The US has suffered a setback whether it likes it or not," Ayatollah Khamenei added.
