The PGCC Foreign Ministers in a statement, issued at the end of their 91st meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday, backed UAE claim of over three Iranian islands.
Asefi said that inclusion of repeated stances and expression of baseless claims would not help peace, friendship among regional states but, it would fan misunderstanding.
Asefi added that the three Iranian islands are and will remain the integral and eternal part of Iranian territory.
He said the measures adopted by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the islands are consistent with its absolute right according to the principle of national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman said continued "positive and constructive" talks between Iran and the UAE would pave the ground for consolidation of the two-way ties and removal of the present misunderstanding on the 1971 protocol regarding Abu Moussa island.
