These days my work takes me to the city center whether I go to work or walk or ride in special Tehran's taxis -called mostaghim (straight)- to get to meetings. This gives me a good chance to see and be ever so impressed with the state of Tehran's Little Parks which are scattered all around the city.
If there is one sector which works quite well in this crazy city of ours, in my opinion, it must be the Gardens & Green Area Department of Tehran Municipality (parkha va fazayeeh sabze shahrdari). People of different ages and backgrounds, for as many diverse reasons come to enjoy the peace and tranquility of these little gardens. This is a habit that Tehranis like many other Iranians have not forgotten.
Here are a few pictures of a park, in Villa Avenue, where there is a small cultural center as well. The manager, judging from the few programs and exhibitions that I have attended there, may be considered a rather progressive one.
The cultural center is on the top right side of this small park in a 3 story building with red-bricks and white paste. It is an old building which has been beautifully redesigned. I cross it often as I go from work to one of the cafes' nearby to meet friends for lunch or afternoon tea. The gardeners are very friendly and polite people and keep the park most clean. They make it a pleasing experience to walk through the park or sit in there!
