Quakes hit southwestern Iranian city of Dogonbadan in succession

Tehran, June 26, IRNA -- Two earthquakes measuring 4.7 and 3.6 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale hit the city of Dogonbadan in Kohgilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad province, southwest of Iran, Friday night and early Saturday.

According to the seismological base of Tehran University's Geophysics Institute, the tremors occurred at 00:13 hours local time (19:43 GMT on Friday) and 19:12 hours local time (1442 GMT). There were no immediate reports of any casualty or damage to property.

Iran is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines and quakes of varying magnitudes are usual occurrences.
