Hamburger SV forward Mehdi Mahdavikia will unveil this weekend Nike's latest hightech football boots, named Nike Air Zoom Total 90 III, during his team's Bundesliga match against Hansa Rostock, IRNA reported from Berlin quoting DPA.
"It's great to wear the shoes. After the first tests I can only say: The Air Zoom Total 90 III is very well cushioned," Mahdavikia was quoted as saying.
Nike's designers stressed the boot's comfort after finding out that footballers can run between 10-15 kilometers during a game. To achieve this, designers used a phylon, a sort of compressed foam, midsole found in running shoes, in the football boots. The laces are to the side to give the footballer more touch and control on the cleaner surface.
Again using technology from Nike's famed air heel cushioning on its running shoes, the football boot has a Zoom Air Unit mounted in a recess in the midsole under the heel for better cushioning.
Players who use the new hightech football shoes can switch from a pair designed to firm ground to another meant for soft, muddy pitches if there is heavy rain during the match.
Several top international footballers like Real Madrid's Luis Figo and Roberto Carlos, Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes, FC Kaiserslautern's Miroslav Klose and Hertha Berlin's Arne Friedrich will also be playing with the new hightech boots.
